Your HealthQ: What do your habits and TV advertisements have in common? A: They can set in place life-long patterns of behaviour that may not be in your best interests, or those of society. There is no question that we are being subjected to continuous misinformation, half-truths, and even cases of deliberate omissions of vital product information regarding many household and personal care products. The task ahead of us is to re-define what we understand to be the difference between "standard of living" and " quality of life". In our daily life it is essential to eliminate hazardous products, regardless under which disguise they come to us.
Two vital issues confronted by Green Aussie Cleaner 1) Absorption of chemicals contained in household and personal care products: The health of many men and women is adversely affected whilst using detergents and cleaners in toilets, showers and other locations. What they are suffering from is the effect of toxic chemicals on their skin, and in the longer term, the absorption of these chemicals through their blood vessels into their internal organs. 2) Allergies
and sensitive skin conditions: Users of detergents, personal
care products and cleaners are generally unaware of the increasing controversy
surrounding some dubious chemicals and their long term effects on our
health. Many company product formulas contain chemicals such as Sodium
Lauryl Sulfate.
"When
advising patients with allergies to avoid soap, shampoo, conditioner,
washing powder and all normal cleaning products, I never knew what to
offer as a substitute. Now I do! Green Aussie cleaner is ideal for allergy
sufferers and I always strongly recommend it to my patients. It is also
the best product I have ever used for removing the oil from my massage
towels". GREEN
AUSSIE CLEANER DOES NOT USE Sodium Lauryl Sulfate had an LD 50 (Lethal Dose for 50% of the animals tested) of 0.8 to 1.10 g/kg in rats. A formulation containing 15% caused depression, laboured breathing, diarrhea and death in 4 out of 20 animals. Tests show permanent eye damage in young animals from skin contact in non-eye areas. Other studies have indicated that Sodium Lauryl Sulfate enters and maintains residual levels in the heart, liver, lungs and brain, as your skin absorbs these chemicals on contact. This poses many questions of it being a serious potential health threat as to its use in shampoos, cleansers, and toothpastes. A study done at the American College of Toxicology has shown that:
Research has indicated SLS may be damaging to the immune system, especially within the skin. Skin layers may separate and inflame due to its protein denaturing properties. High levels of skin penetration may occur at even 'low use' concentration over a period of time. SLS can cause cataracts in adults and delays the healing of wounds in the surface of the cornea. SLS builds up in the heart, liver, lungs and brain and can cause major problems in these areas. SLS causes dysfunction of the biological systems of the skin. SLS is so caustic that it actually corrodes the hair follicles and impairs our ability to grow hair. SLS is routinely used in clinical studies to deliberately irritate the skin so that the effects of other substances can be tested.
